Sarah Charlton

Teacher (New Entrant/Year 1)

General Information
Sarah is a New Zealand trained and registered teacher.  She has been teaching for 6 years with 3 of those years being at some of the top private English language schools in Seoul, South Korea.  She has previously taught in the junior school at Greenpark Primary and also in an early childhood centre.  Sarah has a great deal of experience in teaching students with ESOL backgrounds and enjoys the challenges and triumphs that go with teaching these students.  Sarah has a passion for teaching in the junior school and says it is a delight to watch her students grow and develop from the day they start school

Bronwyn Harris

Teacher (Year 2 and 3)

General Information

Bronwyn brings to Kaimai School a variety of areas of experience. She has a passion for Children’s Literature, Sport, Kids aerobics,  Digital Learning and the Arts.  Bronwyn is a trained Reading Recovery Teacher, Specialist Teacher for Children with Special Needs and ESOL Teacher.  She has also spent a short time as a Teaching Principal at a rural East Coast Shool. Bronwyn has competed in multisport events, half marathons and kayaking. She enjoys fishing and spending precious time with her three sons and grandchildren. Teaching and guiding our students to their fullest potential is rewarding and very forfulling. She is looking forward to sharing her passion and experience with your children.

Lynne Sperring

Teacher/Deputy Principal(Year 4 and Year 5)

General Information
Lynne relishes the opportunity to teach the year 5 and 6 children at Kaimai School, and guide them as they really begin to develop their independence.   She particularly loves exploring the world of literature with her class, encouraging them to get in amongst the books they are reading, and share them with each other.  She is committed to providing her students with opportunities to develop their critical thinking skills across the curriculum and enjoys giving them the opportunity to follow their own direction with their learning, using their particular strengths and  preferences to achieve their goals.  Leading the choir is a rewarding challenge which allows Lynne to work with children from across the school and give them yet another opportunity to shine.

Tim Bassett
Position
Teacher (Year 6 to Year 8)

General Information
Tim began his teaching career in the Far North, he has since taught in Hamilton and more recently at Mt Maunganui. He has worked in private, integrated, and state schools with children in Years 4 through to 8. Tim is experienced in using web tools to enhance learning and brings to Kaimai school skills in accelerating literacy learning and numeracy programmes. Tim enjoys fishing and playing tennis and golf, however enjoying his young family is his favourite way to spend free time. He believes that building relationships with students and watching them grow and achieve is what makes teaching rewarding. He values the community involvement at Kaimai school and the closeness that the school families share.

JR Leask

Office Administrator

General Information
JR has been living in the Kaimai Ranges for over 8 years and enjoys the country lifestyle.  She moved to the Kaimais after spending 6 years of working and travelling in the  UK as well as Europe, Africa, Indian, Nepal & Belize.  JR loves the outdoors and most of her hobbies; horse riding, scuba diving, fishing & camping, reflect this.

JR also loves the family feel at Kaimai School and how all the bigger children look after the little ones.  She says that Kaimai  has a great family feel and reminds her of the little school in Ngunguru she attended.

Dane Robertson
Position
Principal

General Information
Dane began his teaching career at Katikati College where he eventually took on the role of Year 7 then Year 8 Dean. He was also the in-school facilitator for the Secondary Numeracy Project.  He now is the Principal of Kaimai School.  Dane has come from a sporting background, where he held a number of national rowing titles and he was able to represent New Zealand in two trans-Tasman rowing championships.  His sporting background, along with specialising in Health and PE at teachers college, has helped make PE a subject that he really likes teaching.  Dane is also interested in the way teachers can use today's technology to help students learn. He introduced the multi-media class to Kaimai and has helped integrate digital learning throughout the school. Dane says that he loves the fact that he lives and works in the Kaimais as it is a great place to bring up a family.
