Rugby World Cup Global Connections

Today we had a very real privilege. A visit from a multi-cultural family who are currently visiting NZ for the Rugby World Cup.

Harry (Dad) is a Kiwi (New Zealander); Roseanna (Mum) is Irish-born; and Sinead and Mikayla are Harry and Roseanna’s Australian-born gorgeous girls.

We shared our wonderful class and school with the Currie family and everyone had lots of fun and laughter.

Thank you to our visitors and I hope that Room 2 will add to this post to express your gratitude…

Roseanna will be sending us photos from today… SO watch this space!!!

Oral Presentations

Well done, Room 2! You have researched and prepared your oral presentations really well; using the WALTs criteria based on “Disasters”.

I am very proud of the way you’ve used the ‘hamburger’ format to construct and present your oral presentation.

Most of you have a top and bottom bun with lots of ingredients to make your speech very interesting and / or entertaining to your audience.

Your Room 4 audience today was very attentive and held on to all of your words!

You still have another opportunity to project your voice; use gestures; make eye contact; etc – when you have your final performance. Tomorrow or Friday.

The BIG day of the school finals is next Tuesday.

Good luck to you all!

11 weeks!!

It has been a very long 11 -week  term for everyone. But we made it!!

Thank you to all of you in Room 2 who have given 100% this term. You know who you are!

I hope you have a super ‘term break’ with your families with lots of sleep-ins and no bus to catch early in the morning!

I have lots of new and exciting learning prepared for next term and look forward to seeing you all back ready to take on new challenges.

See you at the Mount next week “if you are around”.

Love, Bev

Tauranga Libraries holiday programmes

Children aged 6 -12 can register at a library near them to enjoy a ‘Creative Clay’ activity. They will be able to make a model or a tile to take home. These events are free with materials supplied but interested children need to book in for the clay workshops.

Dan the Puppet Man will be entertaining younger children at all Tauranga Libraries, during the July break. There is no need to register for this free event.

The Learning Centre will be repeating Animation activities at the Tauranga Library only. It will cost $4.00. Children aged 7 -12 can learn to do an animation in 1 hour!

For more information, phone Tauranga City Libraries on 577 7177

Go Casey!

We wish our Casey the very best tomorrow as she represents Kaimai School at the WBOP Cross country championships, at Waipuna Park.

We have very high hopes for Casey to ‘bring home’ a medal because she WON her qualifying race. So she is a HOT favourite!
