Year 4 welcome day.
The year 5′s and myself had a lovely day on Thursday welcoming the year 4′s for a taster of room 3 life. Each year 4 student worked with a year 5 student to create a ‘glogster’ of their choosing. I have set up a glogster page where they are linked, you can reach it from the bookmarks at the top of this page or through this link here. If you can’t view them because of privacy issues, and you would like to, let me know.
The term is moving on!
Well, we were really pleased to get 2nd place in the competition, amidst some tough competition – we would have prefered 1st I think but as I say, the competition was a very high standard. Our girls had a great night, hanging out with Kimberley Crossman, who was delightful in her role as MC.
We have a really busy time for the rest of the term, athletics on the 30th, our school trip on the 13th December. I will be sending a notice home during the next week, organising transport and parental involvement.
NEWS FLASH
Well, great news today, although our digital manipulations were not successful at going through to the next level, the movie “Apple Surprise” has made it through to the final of the Made awards. A really big congratulations to Tessa, Tegan and Shyanne for their hard work.
Congratulations to students in room 1 who did make through to the final with their digital manipulations.
Story Telling 2
Here is the next completed short story. Some wonderful special effects and some great acting skills.
Story Telling
Here is our first story telling video. We were learning to work together to produce a finished product (film), accepting different roles and working to a deadline. We also learned about film language and techniques so we could convey a message and create an emotion in others.
This is the first short film to go through to the 2011 MADE Awards. Best of luck.
Manipulated Images
Here are some of our manipulated images that are going through to the MADE Awards. Our students have some great artistic skills and have worked hard on their photos. Fingers crossed we do well.
7′s
Well done, room 3, for a brilliant performance in the West Cluster 7′s today. It was a nasty start to the day, weatherwise, but you all made up for it with your positive attitudes and enthusiasm for the event.
Congratulations Tegan, your contribution to the Pyes Pa hockey team means you, and they, are going through to the WBOP competition. An excellent effort!
Comment of the day came from Brad, who said “it’s not all about the goals” and he is absolutely right. Even though you didn’t win many games on the scoreboard, you certainly won in the sportsmanship stakes, keeping your efforts and your smiles going until the final whistle blew. I was really proud of you all.
Thanks from the netballers to Natalia, Jessica and Karma from Oropi, and Bree from Greenpark school, who filled in for us. We really appreciated their commitment, particularly to Natalia who played against her own team! I’m not sure if that’s a win she would have enjoyed or not!
North Face Nuptse Jacket for sale!
Room 3 were lucky enough to win a beautiful North Face Nuptse 2 jacket, retail value $199, when I purchased some milo from Gilmores, at the end of last term. The class have decided to sell it by tender, so if you are interested in this lovely, warm, down-filled women’s jacket, size large, contact us in room 3. Follow this link for details of the jacket.
